Geographical basis of tourist development of the Sokobanja basin

Abstract

Sokobanja is one of the major tourist sites in Serbia. It has significant tourist potential. Nonetheless, tourism, as well as other economic activities in this region, is in deep crisis. This paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of tourism development in the spa area. According to a survey, there is a good basis to attract tourists, but further development requires higher investments, as well as greater involvement of local residents.
